Dr B’s Lite Recipe BARF is a complete and balanced, highly palatable, low calorie, reduced protein, reduced phosphorus, high fibre, raw, enzyme rich whole food, which is highly suitable for a wide range of dogs, including many with health conditions, such as pancreatitis and obesity.
Dr B’s BARF Lite contains more low GI (glycemic index) vegetables and fruit than the other Dr. B’s BARF varieties. These supply healthy soluble and insoluble fibre to help keep the gut healthy and valuable phytonutrients. This has virtually no calories derived from carbohydrates; most calories are from protein and fat.
The protein source is of exceptional quality, including lean meats, organ meat (liver, kidneys, tripe), fish bodies and whole eggs. These high quality protein sources are vital for immune system support, and supply essential minerals, vitamins, amino acids and essential fatty acids (EFAs). The extra raw fish ensures that this product is high in anti-inflammatory omega 3 EFAs.
BARF Lite contains reduced but adequate levels of crushed raw bone to meet a pet’s calcium requirement. And, as with all our BARF varieties for dogs, it contains additional superfoods such as garlic (at low, safe immune-boosting levels), yoghurt (full of probiotics to support gut health), alfalfa and kelp (both full of macro- and micro-minerals and protective nutrients).
Dr. B’s Lite Recipe BARF is unsuitable as the sole diet for a puppy, a pregnant or lactating bitch or a highly active working dog. It is an excellent choice for older dogs, obese dogs, and those with health conditions such as chronic pancreatitis.
