Oranges

Oranges

Fruit contains vitamins, minerals, fibre and phytochemicals including enzymes and antioxidants, all of which contribute to helping to fight the ageing process and promoting healthy longevity. According to the CSIRO, ‘an orange has over 170 different phytochemicals and more than 60 flavonoids, many of which have been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-tumour and blood clot inhibiting properties, as well as strong antioxidant effects’! The high vitamin C content of oranges contributes to their reputation of helping to boost the immune system. Although oranges are best known for their vitamin C content, they are also a good source of folate, thiamine, pantothenic acid and some of the other B complex vitamins and vitamin A. Minerals in oranges include potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium and copper.
