Turkey Meat

Turkey Meat

Turkey is the larger cousin of chicken, and is also a white meat and an excellent source of protein, fat, minerals including zinc, iron, potassium, selenium and phosphorus, and the B vitamins , especially B6, B12 and niacin, as well as choline. It contains a high level of essential amino acids, in excellent balance for an animal’s body’s needs. It contains the amino acid tryptophan, which produces serotonin (aka ‘the happy hormone’) and plays an important role in strengthening the immune system.  This low GI meat can help to stabilise insulin levels after eating. Turkey fat includes the omega 3 fatty acid DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), which helps support healthy nerve function.
