Kelp is key source of iodine to ensure that the thyroid gland functions properly, which drives a healthy metabolism for weight management and overall bodily health. Kelp also contains more than 60 other trace minerals (including magnesium, zinc, potassium, iron and calcium), as well as 21 different amino acids (the building blocks of protein) especially glycine, alanine, arginine, proline, glutamic, and aspartic acids, which help to support tissue repair. It also contains some of the B complex vitamins, and vitamins D & K. Kelp contains sodium alginate, which has been reputed to help rid the body of some toxins, such as heavy metals.
